A good friend of mine told recently, that the post and the podcast should have a mission. This was certainly a process that is probably over due, but the other hosts and I hadn't thought of putting a real directive down in writing. I am certainly pleased that this challenge was placed in front of me; I pray that the reader will get a true insight into what makes Realityslate.com different from other sites and podcasts.

At reality slate we urge you to "Listen, Respond, Act." This is not just a phrase it is what we see as the role of a Conservative Warrior, and an American for that matter. We will give you "news and events from a Conservative perspective, with future implications," because the more, we as a public know, the more we can make informed decisions.

Optimism.

While the U.S. is going through hard times we must always remember that our country, 'the great experiment,' has endured much worse times. The job that we perform at Reality Slate is to give a historical context for current events, to add humor, and optimism.

Far too often there is so much negativity, in talk radio and other sources, that one might wonder, not if the sky is falling, but if it already has fallen and we just didn't get the memo. One way the sky has fallen, by many in 'New Media,' comes through in the constant barrage of anti-two party rhetoric that is spewed from many today. Reality Slate proudly pushes a Pro-Republican message. This does not mean that we don't disagree with some Republicans, we often criticize the 'Milk Duds' in the party, but placing any eggs in a third party basket is a colossal waste of time and votes. The left loves when pieces of the conservative side split from the Republicans and vote third party. When we, as we put it on the show, "take our voting ball and run home," we divide the conservative voice. In the case of the '92 election and even our last election, we allowed ourselves, as conservatives, to be so dissatisfied with the direction of the country, that we allowed a candidate to be elected who agrees with our side 0% of the time. So one is left asking, whose agenda gets advanced by third party voting? Conservatives are divided and conquered while Liberals reap the benefits.

The solution is to heighten the Conservative focus of the Republican Party. Vote Republican centrists, i.e 'Milk Duds' out and replace them with real Conservatives. This can happen. In Utah Chris Cannon, a 'Milk Dud' was voted out in primary and he was replaced by Jason Chaffetz, a much more Conservative candidate. In Pennsylvania, we believe that Specter, king of the 'Milk-Duds,' will be replaced by Thume, another Conservative. These are positive steps and this is where Conservatives should direct our voting energy.

Another disturbing conservative trend is migration of Conservatives away from metropolitan areas or more liberal cities as a whole. This does tremendous damage to to Conservative voices who bravely remain in these places. How will more Conservative ideas stick in more liberal areas if Conservatives 'chicken out' and run. We at Reality Slate believe in being informed in national politics, as well as state and municipal politics, even when we are out numbered. We stick around in uncomfortable places and don't give up. This is what Conservative Warriors do.

A Christian Identity.

We love our country. We love the opportunities that are so unique in America. Reality Slate will bring a voice to the Conservative Warriors in this great land who want to work to build the 'Great Experiment. Those who may be from many various Religious backgrounds but respect the Judeo-Christian ethic that made this country so unique. For we believe that our rights come from our Creator, not the republic, or any level of government.

The great fathers of this country knew the importance of God in the every day life of the new United States. This is one of the reasons why we use a picture of John Adams to identify the show. The second president was an educated, eloquent and devoutly religious man. The United States would not be what it is today without men like him. In the founding days, the greatest moments of transcending trial and darkness were often accompanied by days of prayer and fasting. We at Reality Slate believe that love of country is best perceived through the eyeglass of service to The Lord.

The Growing Importance of 'Fly-Over Country.'

Some of the fastest growing states in the U.S. are those in the Intermountain West, Desert Southwest and Alaska. These are resource rich states and often religious states. Theses states often exemplify the rugged independence and rugged individualism that makes America great. Sadly these states are not in charge of their own destinies. The west is disproportionately under represented. Montana , Utah, Arizona and Nevada, as well as others states in the west, are at least one house seat short of adequate representation. At Reality Slate we are one of the first voices to bring this fact into focus, (look at the post from March 3rd).

The reason that we pay attention to such an important matter is that we live in Utah, one of the states most in need of better representation. Most talk shows and media sources are on the coasts, or in large, properly represented areas. Utah could be a player in our national energy independence due to our oil, coal, natural gas resources and a hard working non union workforce. Yet, we are not permitted to utilize our own natural resources, due mostly to our unheard voice in Washington. We see the same thing happening to our lovely sister states, such as Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and Arizona, just to mention a few. If one then adds our other surrounding states and Alaska we are presented with dereliction of awareness from Washington. We are left with taxation without representation and the stifling of a potential economic boom in the west that could not only benefit the west; but also the rest of the country.

So we at Reality Slate announce that it is time to take the shackles off the resources of the west. Give us proper voice in our republic and stop ignoring our importance to our great country.

Listeners and readers, we sincerely pray that you will never give up on making this great country better. The time for political apathy is over. We stand for a reasonable, responsive and fully representative government at all levels. This is what we at Reality Slate aspire to do on our podcast, on our blog and in everyday interaction.
