Thursday, former Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson posted his voting suggestion for Utah’s Second District Seat in the House of Representatives;
Before I go any further, let me state that I’m all for Anderson’s suggestion, because I want Matheson to lose to the Republican. Thereby weakening, or switching, the Democrat majority, however ill-advised Anderson’s suggestion might be.
Anderson is a Liberal Democrat, so one might be surprised by his post. However he explained later, on his Facebook thread, that Matheson was “A Right-Wing extremist,” so his removal was necessary to end the incumbent Representative Matheson’s “destruction” of the Democrat Party.
Matheson is a self described “Blue-Dog,” however several Congressional voting surveys show that he votes with Speaker Pelosi about 80% of the time. In fact groups supporting his Republican opponent, Morgan Philpot, have made constant reverence to the incumbent’s cozy relationship with liberal Democrats. There is even a campaign sign that reads, “Matheson=Pelosi.”
Matheson can’t win, he upsets the Left and Right. Perhaps he should take his ball and go home, after losing obviously.
