Utah Senate Race 2010

E-mail Print PDF

Saturday night we went to a meet the candidates event for US Senator Bob Bennett's seat for the State of Utah. The evening was orchestrated by a friend of Reality Slate, Scott Wallace. You'll remember Scott as our guest who has the substantial plan to reform Social Security. To review his plan, go to our website, www.realityslate.com. While Cherilyn Eager has been the front-runner for our support, we have continually disagreed with her Buchananite ideas...on Free Trade and Foreign Policy, and tonight was no exception. While she is an extremely powerful woman with an incredible presence, excellent communication and campaigning skills, and strong socially conservative values, she is missing the point in these two very important areas that can affect our freedom, economic stability and national security. While none of the candidates agreed with Reality Slate's position to have a permanent US presence in Iraq and Afghanistan, we have endorsed Tim Bridgewater to represent Utah as the republican candidate for the Senate seat. Mr. Bridgewater is a classical, supply side economist that believes minimal government and minimal taxation as a means to grow liberty, freedom and most importantly financial gain for individuals and families, not the government. His work experience in the private sector in both international business and local energy issues, make him a strong well-rounded candidate to support the issues important to Utahns. He also has a socially conservative, family oriented base of values. To learn more about Mr. Bridgewater, visit his Facebook page. We can not fail to give an honorable mention to the remaining candidates. Newcomer, David Chiu, is brand new on the political scene. Recent events in Utah and being the father of a US soldier serving in the Middle East, invoked the passion in him to step out into the Senate race . We liked his ideas and would like to invite him to join our pod cast soon to build his political presence. Mike Lee, former prosecutor, had a very good showing, he is a strict Constitutionalist and we expect to see more from him in the coming years. Last but not least, (as we had originally suspected), long time candidate and former US Representative for the State of Utah, Merrill Cook gave a thorough speech on conservative principles and his track record of experience. While Mr. Cook gave an impressive try, we feel he would best serve our State at this point as an advisor to our up and coming candidates and those in office today. Next Tuesday evening, Senator Bob Bennett will have a chance as the incumbent to address the people, in the same format as this evening, at Salt Lake Community College, Redwood Campus, Technology Building, to the east of the Student Center at 7:00 p.m.

I'm excited that more and more folks are finding Bridgewater as the Conservative choice. For more conservative ideas, keep checking our website: www.RealitySlate.com or join our podcast every Friday night at 9:30 p.m. MST, and tell all your friends.

I also have come to the same conclusion on Tim Bridgewater as the most fiscally conservative challenger in this race, which is what we need. Senator Bennett has made too many compromises with the Liberals over the years.

I had the opportunity to listen to Tim Bridgewater during his visit to Box Elder County this past weekend. He is articulate and savvy. At a time when all challengers are touting their positions on following the Constitution, Bridgewater is the only one who offers real solutions that a businessman can. Bridgewater won me over.

I have to concur that I have reached the same conclusions that you have. That I, too, once supported a different candidate in this race, Sen. Bennett, in fact. However, as times have changed, so has the need for new leadership. I agree that Tim Bridgewater would be the best choice for Utah in 2010. His fiscal policies with innovative energy and domestic ideas won me over. Mr Bridgewater is my GOP candidate when I cast my vote at state GOP nominating convention on May 8th!
