After the last few weeks of Democrat attempts to politicize tragedy, it’s now time for the Republicans to remember there was a recent election; an election which gave the GOP a closer count in the Senate and a clear majority in the House. The Democrats will inevitably continue to take every emotional-wedging issue to derail what Speaker Boehner’s party was elected to do.
The unbridled politicizing of the Arizona tragedy is simply a sign of what the next two years will look like.Every emotionally charged issue will be the top story for the Left’s most sycophantic voices like Dr Krugman, Olberman, Maddow, the Daily Kos, the Huffington Post or whatever other voices of the so called new era of civility. We will see antics that will make Dan Rather’s attempt to fabricate news seem like good reporting.
It is vitally important to for the Right to not be shaken by these upcoming feeble attacks. The GOP would be well served to avoid issues which will detract from their agenda, like abortion, LGBT issues, stem-cells debate or anything that polarizes and brings people to tears, because these are the issues that pander to very small groups of the Left’s most ardent base. Yet, with the issues the country faces like ballooning deficits, oncoming taxes and regulation (with Obamacare and countless other methods) these emotionally charged issues will only distract from the greater issues and set the Republicans up as the bad guys.
The Dems didn’t get the message of the last election, which is that people are truly worried about the nation’s solvency. Pelosi’s party even reelected Pelosi as leader, ignoring the rejection of her agenda. The Republicans should be prepared for the nastiest partisan tricks ever conjured, while being strident in their determination to address the fiscal issues without falling prey to liberal talking points like “tax-cuts for the rich,” or “they (the Republicans) are going to take away your (fill in pet social program here).”
If the Republicans thought they were not on the good side of the Left’s favorite media types last week, they haven’t seen the Left’s bad side yet. The road will only get rockier over the next couple of years. The Republicans need to remember why the November election turned out more their way and keep going down the road of addressing real issues.
